Home > Company Profile > Corporate Responsibility

Throughout the LINPAC organisation a very high priority is placed on quality control and health and safety.  This emphasis extends beyond our own premises and workforce to those of our clients and suppliers. We see it as an important part of our duty to ensure all our partners are fully aware of their responsibilities regarding construction, maintenance and care of the products we supply. To assist, we are happy to offer help and advice on any matters concerning quality, health and safety. As a matter of course, we recommend that you retain our drawings and other technical information in your records and ensure that your operators are aware of the restrictions in terms of the loadings which may be safely applied to the structure.

Quality
As a long standing full member of the Storage Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (SEMA), our design, manufacturing and installation parameters fully meet the criteria laid down in SEMA’s Codes of Practice. The resultant high quality components ensure that the storage systems specified provide an efficient, durable and pleasing working environment. The British Standards Institute has visited our manufacturing plant at Milton Keynes and approved certification to BS EN ISO 9001: 2000.

Health and Safety at Work
Section 6 of the 1974 Health and Safety at Work Act requires that certain safety precautions be taken in the care and maintenance of storage products. To ensure that we have taken every reasonable care that the structures we supply will perform satisfactorily, the load carrying capacities of LINPAC Storage Systems’ equipment are determined in accordance with the SEMA Codes of Practice. We recommend that users do not alter the structure without consultation with our Design Department as, for example, re-positioning of beams can adversely affect the load carrying capacity of the structure. For more detailed guidance, see SEMA Codes of Practice.

The Construction Design and Management Regulations 1994 (CDM Re gulations)
The CDM Regulations are aimed at improving the overall management and co-ordination of health, safety and welfare throughout all stages of a construction project. These regulations place legal duties on all those who can contribute to the health and safety of a construction project. Duties are placed upon clients, designers and contractors with the aim of improving the focus of attention on the management of health and safety, whilst discouraging paperwork that does not add value. They also introduce new documents – Health and Safety plans and the Health and Safety file. The client has the following duties under the CDM Regulations:

  • Provide information on Health and Safety
  • Appoint a Principal Contractor
  • Ensure those appointed are competent and adequately resourced to carry out their health and safety responsibilities
  • Ensure a suitable Health and Safety plan has been prepared by the Principal Contractor before construction work starts on site
  • Ensure the Health and Safety file is completed and kept available for use
The CDM Regulations will normally apply to any construction work which exceeds 500 man days, is on site for more than 30 days, has 5 or more men working on site at any one time or includes any dismantling.
